Children are particularly vulnerable to social, economic, and developmental challenges and therefore require deliberate efforts to protect their rights and wellbeing. This paper examines national and community efforts to improve the wellbeing of children in Botswana, the challenges affecting these efforts, and lessons that may be relevant to other African countries. The study is guided by a Rights-Based Approach, which views children as rights holders and emphasizes the responsibility of duty bearers to promote, protect, and fulfil their rights. The study employed a secondary data, including relevant literature, policy documents, legislation, and government reports. The findings indicate that Botswana has made significant efforts through policies, legislation, social protection programmes, and community based initiatives to improve children's wellbeing. Noticeably, challenges related to implementation, resource constraints, and coordination among stakeholders continue to affect the realization of children's rights. The paper recommends strengthening policy implementation and monitoring, improving coordination among stakeholders, increasing resources for child protection and social services, and promoting children's participation in decisions affecting their lives.
