Starting with Volume 8 No. 1 (2010) Social Work and Society provides a forum for PhD-Projects that have been presented within the context of The International 'Social Work & Society' Academy PhD Network. The network aspires to establish transnational communication and cooperation of PhD students in social work. Within the structure of TiSSA an active participation in current debates is promoted and supported. Young scholars have the opportunity to present and discuss their dissertation projects in an international context and to socialize with other students and colleagues. Thus, the network also aims to create opportunities for PhD-students to enhance and enrich the ability to cope with contemporary challenges in social work and their impact on social work and social services.
